FRP and KFRP

FRP is the abbreviation of FiberReinforced Polymer,as one of materials of the center reinforcement of opticalcables; FRP are used more and more widely.

FRP features the followingcharacteristics:

(1) The relative density of light andhigh strength is between 1.5 and 2.0, only 1/4 to 1/5 of carbon steel, but thetensile strength is close to, or even exceeds, carbon steel, and the specificstrength can be compared with advanced alloy steel. Therefore, it has excellentresults in aviation, rockets, spacecraft, high-pressure vessels, and otherproducts that need to reduce their own weight. The tensile, bending andcompressive strength of some epoxy FRP can reach more than 400Mpa.

(2) Good corrosion resistance FRP is agood corrosion resistant material, and has good resistance to the atmosphere,water and general concentrations of acids, alkalis, salts and a variety of oilsand solvents. It has been applied to all aspects of chemical corrosion preventionand is replacing carbon steel, stainless steel, wood, non-ferrous metals and soon.

(3) Good electrical properties areexcellent insulating materials used to manufacture insulators. Good dielectricproperties can still be protected at high frequencies. Microwave has beenwidely used in radomes because of its good transmittance. Let's wait;

 

KFRP is a new type of high performancenon-metal fiber optic strength members, which has been widely used in accessnetworks.

KFRP features the followingcharacteristics:

Light weight and high strength: thearamid fiber strength member has low density and high strength, and itsspecific strength and specific modulus are far more than the steel wire andglass fiber reinforced cable core;

Low expansion: the aramid fiberreinforced cable core in a wide temperature range, the linear expansioncoefficient is less than the steel wire and glass fiber reinforced cable core;

Impact resistance and fractureresistance: aramid fiber reinforced cable core not only has ultra-high tensilestrength (≥1700MPa), but also impact resistance and fracture resistance, evenin the case of breaking can still maintain tensile strength of about 1300MPa;

Good flexibility: the aramid fiber reinforcedcable core is soft and easy to bend, and its minimum bending diameter is only24 times the diameter. The indoor optical cable structure is compact,beautiful, excellent bending performance, especially suitable for complexindoor environment wiring.
