Fiber Optical Patch Cord (Patch Cable or jumper) is an optical cable assembly that has fiber connectors installed on one or both ends. General use of these cable assemblies includes the interconnection of fiber cable systems and optics-to-electronic equipment. Single mode patch cord uses 9/125um glass fiber, Multimode patch cord uses 50/125um or 62.5/125um glass fiber.Singlemode and multimode refer to the fiber cable types. Singlemode patch cord can be used in long distance data transmission. Multimode patch cord usually uses in short distance transmission. Typical singlemode patch cords are in yellow cable jacket; Typically multi mode patch cord used orange cable jacket for OM1/OM2,aqua for OM3,magenta for OM4 and lime green for OM5.The regular cable material canbe: PVC, Riser, Plenum, OFNR, OFNP or LSZH. Typical the outer diameter for simplex cable is usually 3.0mm, 2.0mm&0.9mm.
Simplex means patch cable is with one core cable;Duplex means the cable with two core cable in zipcord(8 digit) or one round 2 core cable;as for multicore patch cables, you have to specify the cable is with distribution structure(multicore 0.9mm tightbuffer fiber inside), breakout structure(multicore 2.0mm individual sub-unitcable inside),or ribbon structure(12/24 fiber in 1/2 rows),furthermore, you’d better to show a picture of the cable’s detail structure.
